22-year-old man dies in car crash in Longford

Gardaí are at the scene and local diversions are in place.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man has died in a single-car collision in Longford.

The collision occurred in the townland of Lissagernal, near Newtownforbes, at about 12.50am today. The man was driving the car, which had no other occupants. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garda forensic collision investigators are at the crash site and the road is currently closed to traffic. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Longford Garda Station on 043 335 0570, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
