Mayo man collects €1m after leaving lotto ticket in his car

The man says he looked when he heard the winner was sold in his town.

A LUCKY MAYO farmer has collected €1 million after going out to his car to find his winning lotto ticket.

The man claimed his prize at the National Lottery offices in Dublin today admitting that he had left the winning €1.50 Quick Pick ticket overnight in his unlocked car.

The ticket was for the Monday’s Daily Million draw.

“Yesterday I heard that a winning ticket was sold in Balla, where I bought mine.

“The ticket had been laying in the car since Monday, which was unlocked. So I looked the numbers up on the lottery website and then went out to the car to get the ticket. When I saw the first number, I just knew.”

The man, who has chosen to stay private about his win, says he’s planning a few things already, “holidays, maybe a new car, and we’ll put the kids through their education.”
