Two men in their 20s killed in Louth crash in early hours of the morning

The car the men were in was the only vehicle involved.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a fatal crash in Louth which has left two men in their 20s dead.

The men were killed in the collision which happened at Hunterstown, south of Ardee, around half past one this morning when a car crashed into a bridge and a tree.

The men were the only occupants in the car at the time. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the morgue at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda. The other man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Gardaí say that the car was the only vehicle involved.

The N2 remains closed this morning as a result of the crash and diversions are in place.

Gardai in Ardee are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been on that road between 1am and 1.45am this morning are asked to contact them on 041 6871130, the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
