LRA commander captured by Ugandan soldiers

Ugandan officials say Caesar Acellam was one of Joseph Kony’s top strategists in the LRA.

ONE OF THE LORD’S Resistance Army’s top commanders has been captured in the Central African Republic by Ugandan soldiers.

Caesar Acellam was captured yesterday along with two other rebel fighters, according to Ugandan army official Lt Col Abdul Rugumayo.

Rugumayo said that there were around 30 LRA rebels together in a group near the Cong0-Central African Republic border, but that the others escaped.

Ugandan officials claim that Acellam is one of Joseph Kony’s top strategists. Kony, who became the subject of a major international awareness campaign earlier this year, remains at large.

Kony is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, including enlisting child soldiers, rape, sexual enslavement and attacks against civilians.
