Two incidents involving Luas in Dublin city centre

Five people, including the driver of one Luas, have been taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

THERE HAVE BEEN two separate incidents involving the Luas today with a collision between one of the trams and a car on O’Connell Street this morning and another incident with a pedestrian on Benburb Street.

The collision between the Luas and a white Ford Focus at the the junction of O’Connell Street and Abbey Street in Dublin occurred at 10.05am this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene. Five people, including the driver, have been taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

O’Connell Street had been closed in both directions with diversions in place but the collision has now been cleared and the road has been reopened.

On Benburb Street a man stepped out as a Luas was passing and suffered minor scrapes to his nose.
