IF YOU’RE GOING to be driving in Dublin City Centre soon, keep an eye out for some road changes.

With the Luas Cross City line under construction, we’ve already seen a number of changes to the roads due to the utility works:

The latest changes mean that Molesworth St will be closed to traffic between its junctions with Dawson St and South Frederick St, for a period of four weeks from today.

Because of this, Kildare St will be made two-way from St Stephen’s Green North to Molesworth St, while remaining one-way southbound between Nassau St and Molesworth St.

The Luas Cross City scheme will cost a total of €368 million, and the new lines will be operational in 2017. The works mean that the green and red lines will finally be linked up, stretching all the way to Grangegorman.

Changes

Here’s what you can expect in the St Stephen’s Green area if you need to use Molesworth St:

  • Traffic on Kildare Street should continue straight on Kildare Street past the Molesworth Street junction
  • At the next set of traffic lights turn left at St. Stephen’s Green North
  • Continue straight through the next set of traffic lights onto Merrion Row
  • At the next set of traffic lights turn right onto Ely Place
  • At the next junction turn right onto Hume Street
  • At the next set of traffic lights turn right onto St. Stephen’s Green East
  • Turn left onto St. Stephen’s Green North and continue straight through the next set of traffic lights
  • At the next set of traffic lights turn right onto Dawson Street

There are also changes for accessing Molesworth St from St Stephen’s Green North, and the full details are on the Luas Cross City website.
