Garda among four injured in 'mini crime spree' by two teenagers

Two teens were arrested afterwards.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a number of incidents in a Lucan estate that left a Garda in hospital.

The incidents occurred it what has been called a ‘mini crime spree’ by Garda sources in the Castle Riada Drive area of Lucan bewteen 9.30pm and 10pm last night.

The incidents included two attempts to hi-jack cars, a robbery from a person, and an assault. Four people, one woman and three men required hospital treatment as a result. None of the injuries were life threatening.

Gardaí responding to calls from the public searched the area and two young men were arrested on Castle Road, Lucan. A Garda recieved a head injury during the course of the arrest and required hospital treatment. He has since been released from hospital.

The two teens are detained at Lucan Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in this area between 9.30pm – 10.20pm last night to contact them at Lucan Garda station on 01 666 7300.
