One dead, dozens injured in 40-car UK motorway pile-up

The incident occurred at around 8am this morning.

ONE PERSON HAS died and dozens of people have been injured in a pile-up on a UK motorway.

Thames Valley Police said that the collision on the M40 near Bicester, Oxfordshire, involved around 40 vehicles.

The road has been closed northbound between Junctions 9 and 10, and police say it is expected to remain closed throughout the day.

Police said:

One person sadly died at the scene, one person sustained life-threatening injuries, six people were seriously injured and approximately 35 to 45 people have minor injuries.
