THE M50 HAS reopened after an eight-car rush hour pile-up.

The crash happened near Junction 6 at Blanchardstown around 4.55pm today. Two lanes of the motorway were closed as emergency services dealt with the incident.

It caused massive tailbacks, with traffic not moving as far back as Ballymount.

The road reopened within the last ten minutes, but congestion is still an issue.

It is not yet known if there were any injuries, but at least one person was cut out of a car.
