Woman dies of injuries sustained in M50 crash

The woman was injured in the crash on Wednesday.

A 47-YEAR-OLD woman has died following a crash on the M50 earlier this week.

Gardaí confirmed that the woman passed away this morning in hospital, having sustained serious injuries in the crash.

The woman was driving a car on Wednesday which was involved in a collision with two trucks at about 5.30am near Lucan.

The drivers of the trucks – men aged 33 and 47 – were uninjured.

An appeal for witnesses was made on Wednesday.

Gardaí are hoping to talk to anyone travelling on the M50 southbound between junction 6 Blanchardstown and junction 9 at the Red Cow, or who may have merged onto the M50 southbound at junction 7, Lucan via the N4 eastbound/westbound between 5am and 5.45am on the morning of Wednesday.

A section of the motorway at junction 7 was closed for a number of hours to allow for debris to be cleared and for forensic tests.
