THE NATIONAL LOTTERY have revealed that the €93.9 million EuroMillions winning lotto ticket was sold in Mace on the Shantalla Road in Beaumont, Dublin 9.

The now multi-millionaire picked up the €6 ticket on the day of the draw, Tuesday, 25 June.

Last week, they headed to the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin to collect their winning cheque making them Ireland’s 96th richest person.

They have decided to remain anonymous but did issue a brief comment in a statement from the National Lottery.

“I’m absolutely thrilled. Dreams do come true! The news is still sinking in so for the moment I’d like to keep the win private,” they said. “I’m looking forward to thinking about all the opportunities that are now open to me. It’s a really exciting time!”

I think it is unfair on the winner after requesting to remain anonymous that the national lotto release the winning ticket amount, date and location- this will lead to the perusing of security cameras followed by a great deal of conjecture and gossip followed by the red tops camping out in the area looking for info. God help anyone in the locality buying a new car they will probably have a thousand begging letters on their door step the next day.

They are right not to go public.

What was a great story for limerick a few years ago was turned into an orgy of anti limerick hatred and prejudice by the dublin and cork media.

Who in their right mind would want to go public after that.

Have you anything else to add to your hatred,I.e facts.
What cork media has belittled past lotto winners from limerick??.
    And I want quotes.

    joe,
You just made up a story about a limerickman.

i don’t have any hatred, show me hatred in anything that i’ve written?

As for delouros mcnamara, go search the cork examiner website, inm websites, tabloid websites.

Amazing, i state something truthful and all of a sudden i have a hatred for cork and dublin.

Well I don’t hate cork nor dublin.

Tony,I’ve been in limerick dozens of times and I think,to be honest it’s a very welcoming, historical city.
Focus on the positives of limerick and not the media, because the media is there to make money, not friends.
Saying that I’ve nothing bad to say about limerick, never have..and I’m cork city native all my like:-)

What a waste of a statement when you could have such fun with it.

“I’d like to thank those who made this possible – you know who you are. We can now finally implement the plans which for so long have been pipe dreams, and look forward to our new Ireland and the overthrow of the covert regime. Vive la revolution!”

He is right to stay anonymous. Very hard to keep secret. Wish him her or them thr best of everything with it.

My advise over the course of a year of two make donations to family mortgages without it being traced. Donate a few million to a very worthy cause then go and have fun. Stay secret and live happy

Good story except for the possibility the winner is Bertie Ahern! That shop is right across the road from his watering hole Beaumont House where the gouger won 10k a few years back. Would not surprise me one bit!! :(

This shop is only down the road from where I live. Times like this I wish I had some sort of inner voice which would have led me to that shop on that day to buy that ticket (despite the fact I never buy lottery tickets) :D

Really glad for the winner and very sympathetic to all those who are reading this and who have bought a Lotto ticket in that shop around the same time the winner did! Morto.

This is the very reason I buy lotto online. There is no way to keep a secret if even the smallest detail is made public. I fully intend to win the Yoyo millions, but nobody will know where I live unless the Lotto office let it out…..and if they do, I can sue for a few more millions. I think the winner is very right to keep it quiet and to think long and hard how to deal with the change in circumstances. I hope they share it with people who deserve it, but good luck to them anyway.
