Man in his 50s arrested after gun and drug seizure in Dublin

The man was arrested after a seizure at a house in Finglas.

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have seized a replica handgun, a quantity of controlled drugs and arrested a man following a search at a house in Finglas last night.

In a planned operation, gardaí from Finglas and Cabra Drugs Units searched a house in the Abbotstown area yesterday afternoon.

During the course of the search gardaí discovered a replica handgun and a quantity of methadone, which, subject to analysis, has a street value of €3,000.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and detained at Finglas Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
