Man in his 20s arrested after death of man at house in Kildare

A man in his 30s was found with head injuries in Celbridge last night. He died at the scene.

A 26-YEAR-OLD MAN has been arrested following the death of a man at a house in Celbridge, Co Kildare yesterday.

Gardaí were called to the incident at Willowbrook Park at 8.50pm after paramedics discovered a man in his 30s, named locally as Noel Winterlich, with head injuries.

He was pronounced dead shortly before 10.30pm.

In a statement this evening gardaí said they will not be releasing the results of a post mortem for “operational reasons”.

The other man was was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Leixlip Garda station under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act.

Superintendent Gerry Wall told the News At One: ”We believe from early inquiries that (the death) happened at some stage bet Monday and late last night at 9pm.

“We’re asking any persons who may reside in this area or who may use this area, through walking or otherwise, that they would come forward and give us any information that they have … and let us decide the importance of the information.”

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the Willowbrook Park area of Celbridge to contact them at Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.
