ONE MAN HAS been arrested and drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol have been seized as part of a Garda investigation into the murder of a 20-year-old in Louth two years ago.
Gardaí arrested the man in his early 20s at a house in Dunleer at around 7.30am this morning in connection with the fatal shooting of Stephen Hanaphy in October 2010.
Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €3,200 were discovered at the property and seized by Gardaí.
A large quantity of illegal cigarettes worth an estimated loss to the State of €200,000 and illegal alcohol and various distilling equipment were found during a related search of a second property.
The arrested man is currently being held at Dundalk Garda Station under the Offences Against the State Act.
Stephen Hanaphy, a 20-year-old from Coolock in Dublin, was shot and killed at a house in the Sliabh Breagh estate in Ardee in Louth on 29 October 2010. This is the ninth arrest in connection with the shooting.
