Man arrested over Clondalkin apartment fire

The man is being questioned by Gardaí over the blaze which broke out in the early hours of the morning at the Dublin apartment block.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a 27-year-old man in connection with a fire at an apartment block in Clondalkin in Dublin one week ago.

The man was arrested this morning and is being held at Clondalkin Garda Station where he can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

The fire broke out at Thornfield Square in west Dublin just after 5.30am on the morning of 9 July. Sixteen residents – including three children –  were evacuated by emergency services at the scene.

Six people were treated for smoke inhalation but Gardaí said no-one was seriously injured in the blaze.
