Man arrested over fatal Dublin hit-and-run

A 40-year-old woman was fatally injured when she was struck by a car in Drimnagh on Friday.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Dublin, in which a 40-year-old woman was killed.

Gardaí investigating the fatal incident, which occurred on Davitt Road, Dublin 12, at 10.30 pm on Friday, arrested a man in his 30s yesterday evening in the Drimnagh area of Dublin. He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Sundrive Road Garda Station.

The 40-year-old female pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a car, which failed to remain at the scene. The woman was crossing the road at Golden Bridge Luas stop at the time she was struck.

Gardaí are still trying to locate the offending car. It is described as dark-coloured, possible a Ford Focus and either ’08 or ’09 registration. The car left in the direction of Naas Road. The car would have damage to the front and to the windscreen, gardaí say.

There have been reported sightings of the car in the Fonthill Road, Newlands Cross, Nangor Road and Firhouse areas.

Anyone with information about this car and its whereabouts is asked to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station on 01 666 6600.
