Man arrested over burglary at home of Justice Minister Alan Shatter

The Minister is currently in Australia for St Patrick’s Day festivities.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING the circumstances of a break-in at the home of Justice Minister Alan Shatter last night.

A man in his 20s has been arrested and is being held for questioning at Blackrock Garda Station in Dublin.

The Department of Justice confirmed to TheJournal.ie that a burglary had occurred at the Minister’s house but could not offer any further comment. The incident is now an operational matter for the Gardaí, said a spokeswoman.

Shatter, who is currently in Australia for St Patrick’s Day festivities, has been informed of the break-in.

According to RTÉ, nobody was in the property at the time of the incident and it is still unclear if anything was taken. The suspect was arrested shortly after the break-in at 11.30pm.

Gardaí investigating the crime remain at the scene.
