Man arrested over suspicious death of Waterford woman

A 35-year-old woman was found in a serious condition on the outer ring road of Waterford City, and dies later in hospital.

A 29-YEAR-OLD MAN has been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a woman in Waterford city in the early hours of this morning.

The woman, 35, was found in a serious condition on the Cousebridge roundabout on the city’s outer ring road shortly after midnight last night.

The woman was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital but died there later last night.

The arrested man is being detained at Waterford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene is being preserved for a technical examination and a portion of the ring road remains closed.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses who may have seen suspicious or unusual activity in the area between 11:30pm and 12:10am last night to contact them at (051) 305 300 or on the Garda confidential line at 1800 666 111.
