A 42-YEAR-OLD MAN has been charged in connection with the death of an elderly couple at their home in Donegal.

Gardaí charged the man this evening, and he is due to appear before a special sitting of Ballyshannon District Court at 9.30pm.

He was arrested yesterday and had been detained at Buncrana Garda station.

The bodies of the couple – a 77-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman – were discovered at their home in Carndonagh on Thursday morning just after 9 o’clock. They have been named locally as Jimmy and Kathleen Cuddihy.

The two are believed to have suffered violent deaths.

Post-mortems were carried out this morning.
