Man appears in court charged with the murder of his mother in their Dún Laoghaire home

Fionn Braidwood, 30, appeared before a sitting of Dún Laoghaire District Court this morning.

A MAN HAS appeared in court in Dublin charged with the murder of his mother in their home on Tuesday.

Fionn Braidwood, 30, was charged with the murder of his mother Jane at Clarinda Park East, Dún Laoghaire before a sitting of Dún Laoghaire District Court today.

Judge Anne Watkins granted him free legal aid pending a medical and psychiatric evaluation on his fitness to stand trial. He will appear before Cloverhill District Court on 29 January.

The court heard that Fionn Braidwood made no reply when he was charged at Dún Laoghaire Garda station.

Jane Braidwood, who was 65 and a widow, sustained stab wounds in the incident at the house on Tuesday evening. She was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
