68-year-old man due in court over alleged false imprisonment

Gardaí investigating the alleged abduction of businessman Kevin McGeever arrested a man in Clontarf last night.

A MAN WILL appear in court today as part of a Garda investigation into an alleged false imprisonment of a man over a period of eight months.

The 68-year-old was arrested in Clontarf in Dublin but was taken to Gort Garda Station in Galway where he faced charges of wasting garda time.

Gardaí in Galway have been investigating the alleged false imprisonment of a man between 27 May 2012 and 29 January 2013.

The man will appear before Strokestown District Court at 10.30 this morning.

Businessman Kevin McGeever was reported missing by his partner in May 2012 and was found in a dishevelled state on a road in Leitrim in January this year. He had told investigators that he was abducted at gunpoint from his home and held against his will by unknown kidnappers until his release.
