Man in his 50s dies after car collides with fence in Monaghan

The female passenger was uninjured.

A MAN IN his 50s has died in a car accident in Co Monaghan.

Gardaí at Castleblaney, Co Monaghan are investigating the single-vehicle fatal road traffic collision, which occurred at Drumcrew, Castleblaney on the N2 at approximately 4pm yesterday.

The man was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a wooden fence.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

A female passenger in the car was uninjured.

This stretch of road was closed pending the completion of an examination by garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions were put in place.
