Man dies in crash involving a motorcycle and tractor

The motorcyclist died in Cavan this morning.

A MAN IN his 30s has died following a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor in county Cavan.

At about 11.15am today, the motorcyclist was fatally injured when his bike collided with a tractor on the R154 at Cavancoulter.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Cavan General Hospital.

The driver of the tractor was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as not life-threatening.

The stretch of road is still closed for technical and forensic examinations. Local diversions are in place.

An appeal for witnesses has been issued and anyone with information is asked to contact the local station on 049 436 8800.
