22-year-old man dies in tractor crash

A post mortem is to be carried out on the man at Sligo General Hospital this morning.

A 22-YEAR-OLD MAN has died after he was thrown from the tractor he was driving on a Sligo road.

The man was the sole occupant of the tractor drawing a trailer when the accident happened at Clogher Monasteraden off the R294 road at around 6.20pm on Monday night.

The trailer struck the tractor, ejecting the man from the tractor. Gardaí said he received fatal injuries when he was struck by the trailer and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem is to be carried out on the man at Sligo General Hospital this morning.

The road is currently closed while a forensic investigation is carried out at the scene. Local diversions are in place.
