Man dies in Co Cavan road crash

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the single-vehicle fatal collision, in which a 22-year-old man died.

GARDAÍ AT BAILIEBORO, Co Cavan are appealing for witnesses following a single vehicle fatal road traffic crash at Virginia, Co Cavan, this morning.

They said that at approximately 2am a 22-year-old male was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the carriageway on the N3 at Virginia and hit a wall.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Cavan General Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The scene is preserved pending a technical examination and diversions are in place.
