Man in his 20s drowns in Castletownbere

It is believed the man may have lost his life in tragic circumstances.

A MAN IN his twenties has died in the Castletownbere area of Co Cork.

A spokesperson for the RNLI told TheJournal.ie that the man was reported missing this morning. The Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat was launched at 1.35pm.

The man, who is in his 20s, was located a mile and a half off Travarra, which is an inlet in the Beara Peninsula, by a local vessel.

He was immediately transferred to the lifeboat and brought back to Castletownbere.

He was then pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.
