Gardaí appeal for witnesses to serious assault in Cork city

The injured man is a Spanish national who has been living in Ireland.

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for any witnesses to a serious assault in Cork city last night to come forward.

A Spanish national in his late 30s, who is understood to have been living in the area, was seriously injured during an altercation between two groups.

The incident happened on White Street in the city at around 10pm last night.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is described as being in a critical but stable condition, gardaí have said.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street arrested two males in relation to the incident but they were later released without charge.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or was in the White Street area around the time of the assault is asked to contact Angelsea Street Garda Station on 021-4522000, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
