Man charged with IRA membership and possession of explosives over hotel bomb

He’s due to appear in court in three weeks time.

A 56-YEAR-OLD man appeared before the Special Criminal Court this afternoon in connection with the discovery of a bomb at a Dublin hotel at the weekend.

Samuel Devlin with an address at Golf Suite, Finnstown House Hotel Lucan Co Dublin was arrested on Sunday afternoon, after a bomb was found at the hotel he was staying in.

The Army Bomb Disposal team were called in to dismantle the 66lb bomb at the grounds of the hotel on Saturday night.

He was charged with membership of the IRA and possession of explosives.

Devlin appeared in court dressed in a grey hooded tracksuit top and had a grey beard and moustache.

He declined to give his address twice, only giving the address of the hotel.

The case has been adjourned until three weeks time on 3 June.

Devlin was remanded in custody and no application was made for bail.

An application was made for legal aid.
