Pedestrian killed in morning road crash

The man was pronounced dead at the scene in Mayo.

A MAN IN his 70s has died after he was hit by a car in Mayo this morning.

The pedestrian was struck by the car at around 7.30am today on the N17 at Claremorris. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is currently closed as a forensic investigation is carried out of the scene.

Gardaí in Claremorris have appealed for any witnesses to come forward and contact them.
