79-year-old man dies on son's farm after being hit by machinery

The HSA are currently investigating the incident.

THE HEALTH AND Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation into the death of a man on a farm in Carlow.

The 79-year-old was working on his son’s farm in Bennekerry yesterday evening when he was struck by the front-loader of a tractor.

The incident is said to have occurred before 7pm.

The HSA said it is being treated as a fatal accident and inspectors are due to examine the scene this afternoon.

Gardaí are assisting the coroner in relation to the incident.
