Cork pensioner stabbed after confronting burglar in his home

The man found the intruder in his Cork home this afternoon and confronted him.

A 68-YEAR-OLD MAN has been treated in hospital after confronting a burglar in his home.

The pensioner returned to his home on the Cross Douglas Road in Cork city at around 4.30pm this afternoon to find a male intruder in the house.

The man and the intruder struggled and the homeowner received a head injury and a stab wound to his lower body.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital where his injuries are described as not life threatening.

The intruder escaped from the house with a computer and camera equipment.

Gardaí in Douglas have appealed for witnesses or anyone with any information about the burglary to contact them at 021 494 7210.
