Man and his son stabbed at home by intruder

The men encountered a man at the back of their home.

A MAN HAS been taken to hospital after he and his son were stabbed at their home in Tralee.

The 47-year-old man and his 17-year-old son both received non-life threatening injuries after they are believed to have encountered an intruder trying to break into a car outside their home in Woodbrook Lawn in the Kerry town.

Gardaí say an unknown man entered the grounds of the house and interfered with a car parked in the driveway. He then walked around to the back of the house and was confronted by the home owner and his son. An altercation occurred resulting in the home owner and his son receiving minor stab wounds.

The assailant fled the scene in the direction of Monavalley Road. He is described as being 5′ 10″ or 5′ 11″ with light blonde short hair, slim build and wearing a black hoodie with white stripes on the sleeves.

The man was taken to Kerry General Hospital and gardaí are at the scene.

No arrests have yet been made and anyone with information is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
