The incident took place in Warrenpoint, Co Down last night.

A MAN IN his sixties was tied up by masked burglars who ransacked his property and locked him into a bedroom, before making off with his jeep.

PSNI detectives are appealing for information following the aggravated burglary, which occurred last night in the Ryanstown Road area of Warrenpoint, in Co Down.

They said that at approximately 9pm, three masked men, one who was carrying a suspected firearm, forced their way into a house in the rural Ryanstown Road area.

The men forced the 60-year-old male occupant to the floor and demanded money.

He was held on the floor by one of the men while the other two ransacked the property.

They then tied the man up and locked him in a bedroom before making off.

The burglars stole the man’s Mitsubishi Shogun, which was later found abandoned on the Upper Burren Road.

Police said that the victim received an injury to his shoulder and was taken to hospital for treatment. He was discharged this morning.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any information, to contact them at CID in Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
