Man to be sentenced for knocking down and killing Kildare councillor

Kildare councillor Willie Crowley was knocked down on Eyre Street, Newbridge in December 2015.

A MAN WILL be sentenced next May for knocking down and killing Kildare councillor Willie Crowley in December 2015.

Crowley (56) died from his injuries in Naas Hospital a few days after he was struck by a vehicle.

Today, Damien Klasinski (29) of The Oaks, Newbridge, Co Kildare, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to dangerous driving causing the death of the independent councillor on Eyre Street, Newbridge, on 15 December 2015.

He was remanded in continuing custody until 3 May next when a summary of the evidence will be heard.

Judge Martin Nolan court ordered that a victim impact report be prepared by Crowley’s widow.
