Man in his 20s found dead after hit and run

The man was found on the side of the Rathmolyon to Summerhill road.

GARDAÍ IN TRIM are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that left a man dead.

The incident occurred on the Rathmolyon to Summerhill road yesterday evening.

A male pedestrian in his 20s was found at around 8.50pm with fatal injuries at the side of the road after being struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigations and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, anyone with information or to anyone who travelled this road between 8.30pm and 9pm yesterday evening to contact Trim Garda Station on 046-9481540, the Garda Confidential telephone line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
