Memorial mass held for Jill Meagher in Drogheda

Tonight’s service follows an earlier memorial in Melbourne, Australia.

A CANDLELIT PROCESSION and a memorial mass were held in Jill Meagher’s home town of Drogheda this evening.

The Louth town came to a stand still as locals paid their respects to the 29-year-old who was killed in Melbourne, Australia last month.

A 41-year-old man has been charged with her rape and murder but, today, it was Jill’s life remembered, not her death.

At an earlier, private family service in Australia, George McKeon gave an emotional tribute to his daughter, saying that every night his thoughts were filled with memories of her and he found himself missing her even more.

Her husband Tom said, “Goodbye my beautiful, funny girl. I’ll love you forever”.
