Two men due in court over Saturday morning post office robbery

Staff were threatened during the robbery.

TWO MEN ARE due in court after a raid at a Carlow post office over the weekend.

At around 9.45am on Saturday a man armed with a hammer entered a Post Office at Leighlinbridge.

He threatened staff before leaving the scene with an amount of cash and a computer hard drive. The staff member was not physically injured during the raid.

During follow up searches gardaí from Carlow arrested two males at a wooded area near Leighlinbridge a number of hours later.

The men, both aged in their late 20s, have been charged in connection with a robbery at Post Office in Leighlinbridge.

They’re expected to appear before a sitting of Carlow District Court at 4pm this afternoon.
