Angela Merkel fractures pelvis in skiing accident

The German Chancellor has had to cancel all appointments scheduled for this week as it is understood she will be bed-bound for some time.

GERMAN CHANCELLOR ANGELA Merkel has been injured in a skiing accident during  her Christmas holiday, a spokesperson has confirmed.

Her spokesman Steffen Seibert said she suffered a fractured pelvis and must lie down as much as possible, AFP reports.

He said Merkel will be forced to cancel all appointments scheduled for the next three weeks. She was due to visit Warsaw on Wednesday and also had a meeting with the Prime Minister to Luxembourg scheduled for this week.
