Three workers injured in explosion at oil facility in Mexico

The evacuation of hundreds of people has taken place.

AN EXPLOSION HAS taken place at an oil facility in Mexico, leaving three workers injured.

The explosion took place at the Pemex facility in Coatzacoalcos.

The company said that the accident occurred on the PMV plant operating company Mexichem, which is run in association with Pemex.

It said that three of its workers have been injured in the explosion.

Footage on Twitter, apparently of the blast site, shows black smoke pouring from the facility:

Sky News reports that the evacuation of hundreds of people in the local area has taken place.
