Video: Michael Noonan made a joke about Sinn Féin and everyone in the Dáil laughed

It was hilarious by the low, low standards of Leinster House.

THE DÁIL IS a pretty humourless place most of the time but Michael Noonan was in flying form today as he cracked a joke at the expense of Sinn Féin.

The Finance Minister was taking aim at the party’s commitment to abolish water charges as a precondition of entering into coalition during Leaders’ Questions today.

He compared Sinn Féin to an “auld fella walking up and down the boundaries of the ballroom of romance”.

“Nobody wants to dance with him,” he quipped to much laughter in the Dáil chamber. Even TDs on the Sinn Féin benches were smiling at that one.
