A migrant has died trying to reach Britain through the Channel Tunnel

The person’s body was found in the early hours of the morning.

A MIGRANT HAS died trying to reach the UK through the Channel Tunnel.

A section of the tunnel linking Kent to the French port of Calais was closed for investigation.

It is not yet clear how the person died.

“Following the discovery of migrants on a freight shuttle, early this morning, the shuttle was immediately stopped,” a French official told AFP.

During an investigation by border police, a deceased migrant was found in the tunnel.

Operator Eurotunnel warned passengers to expect three-hour delays on the British side and an hour on the French.

The news comes after around 150 migrants tried to enter the tunnel last week.

Thousands of displaced people have set up camp near Calais in recent months, with many trying to board UK-bound lorries at the French terminal.
