33 people, including five children, have drowned trying to reach Greece

So far this year, 218 people have died as they attempted to make the crossing from Turkey to Greece.

AT LEAST 33 migrants, including five children, have drowned trying to reach Greece.

Turkey’s state-run Anatolia news agency reported that the boat sank in the Aegean Sea while trying to cross from Turkey to Greece.

According to AFP 75 passengers were rescued by coast guards.

Anatolia reports that the migrants were from  Myanmar, Afghanistan and Syria.

It’s understood that they set sail from the Canakkale province to reach the nearby Greek island of Lesbos.

So far this year, 218 people have died as they attempted to make the crossing from Turkey to Greece.
