Body of missing hillwalker found in Donegal mountains

The man was found yesterday after the alarm was raised on Saturday evening.

THE BODY OF a man has been recovered following a search in the Derryveagh Mountains in Co Donegal.

The man – who is believed to be English – had been reported missing on Saturday evening, but had not been seen Thursday.

A major search operation was coordinated by the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team, and assistance was provided by mountain rescue teams from Sligo and Leitrim, as well as Bunbeg Coast Guard, Malin Head Coast Guard and Rescue helicopter 118.

It is understood the man’s body was found after 6pm yesterday evening.

All rescue teams stood down just before 10pm last night.

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team said that all agencies involved were on standby to assist from this morning if required.
