Search for missing 21-year-old man in River Nore

The search started at 6.30am and is being coordinated by local gardaí on the ground.

GARDAÍ ARE CONTINUING to search for a man who went into the water in Kilkenny this morning.

The Coast Guard said it was first called at 6.30am this morning about a 21-year-old man who was missing and thought to have gone into the River Nore at Thomstown.

The search has now entered its 12th hour and a garda spokesperson said there is still no sign of the man.

The Waterford search and rescue helicopter joined a search operation on the ground co-ordinated by local gardaí.

It is believed the man may have been missing since the early hours of this morning.
