Body of missing woman Kathleen Reilly discovered after search

The 74-year-old’s remains were found near a lake, gardaí say.

A BODY HAS been found in the search for an elderly woman who went missing six days ago, gardaí say.

Kathleen Reilly was last seen walking through Athlone on Thursday afternoon, 16 June.

A search got underway after she was reported missing, with gardaí renewing their appeal for help on Monday.

The remains of the 74-year-old were discovered near a lake yesterday evening, gardaí said.

Her body was removed to the morgue at Tullamore Hospital.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place today.
