69-year-old killed after his motorcycle hit a pole

No one else was injured in the collision.

A 69-YEAR-old man has died after his motorcycle hit a pole in Stradbally, county Laois.

The collision occurred at 11.15am at Kiloughan on the Stradbally to Abbeyleix Road.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the morgue at Portlaoise General Hospital. He is the ninth motorcyclist to lose his life on Irish roads this year.

No one else was injured in the collision. The road is currently closed pending a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
