Gardaí arrest motorcyclist caught doing 218km/hour in Limerick

The man will appear in court later this month.

A MOTORCYCLIST IN his early 30s was arrested doing 218km per hour in Limerick yesterday.

The Garda Press Office said the man was caught speeding at about 4.30pm on the M20 at Cloghacloka, Patrickswell, Co Limerick.

He was brought to Henry Street Garda Station before being released. He is due to appear before Newcastle West District Court on 14 October.

Earlier this month, the Road Safety Authority released a report that showed speed was a contributory factor in 49% of the 93 fatal collisions involving a motorcyclist between 2008 and 2012.
