Taxi driver tied up and robbed in Naas hijacking

Two men made off with a sum of cash and the driver’s mobile phone.

GARDAÍ IN NAAS, Kildare are investigating a taxi hijacking in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred on Straffan Road at 3.25am. The 40-year-old driver was assaulted by two men he had picked up in Naas.

KFM Radio reports the driver was tied up but later managed to free himself. The men made off with a sum of cash and the driver’s mobile phone, a garda spokesperson confirmed today.

They said the driver was not seriously injured in the incident.

Gardaí in Naas are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
