Man (40s) dies from crush injuries after workplace accident

The man passed away after sustaining crush injuries at a Naas factory.

A MAN IN his early 40s has died following an accident at a factory in Naas, Co Kildare, last night.

The man was taken to Naas General Hospital with crush injuries but later passed away, gardaí said.

The deceased was working at a Green Isle Foods plant when machinery is thought to have come down on top of him at around 8.30pm.

The company confirmed in a statement that there was a fatal accident at its manufacturing facility in the town.

“Management and staff at Green Isle Foods wish to express their deepest sympathies to the family and offer their full support at this very difficult time,” it said.

Green Isle Foods is co-operating fully with the relevant authorities as they conduct their investigations into this tragic incident.

The Health and Safety Authority said it was investigating the incident.
