Here's how many houses Nama has handed over for social housing

Spoiler: It’s just 11 per cent of the available stock.

NAMA HAS HANDED over just 11 per cent of properties identified for use as social housing.

Of a total of 4,652 “potentially” suitable, 518 have been transferred to local authorities.

Another 166 units are expected to become available shortly.

“This brings the overall total delivery of social housing from NAMA-sourced units to 684 units (completed or contracted) since the process began,” Minister for Housing Jan O’Sullivan said.

Figures published this month from the Housing Agency stated that 80,000 homes should be built in the urban areas over the next five years to keep up with demand.

Junior Minister O’Sullivan was responding to parliamentary questions from Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen and Independent Maureen O’Sullivan.

In a breakdown of the situation across the country, Dublin City is highlighted as having the highest number of available housing stock.

Of 753 properties, 163 has been handed over.

However, in Roscommon , Leitrim, and North Tipperary, where despite 91, 35, and 13 properties respectively being identified, no work has been carried out to make these houses available for use as social housing.
